communication -down memory lane

More than three decades of my life have flown  in a flash and here I  am looking back to the days when we have witnessed  the gradual transformation that  the world of communication has taken. it keeps us wondering how things have changed due to the coming of gadgets.  There's no doubt communication is a lot more easier and speedy  , but at the same are we completely dependent on these devices?? there was a time when we had these instruments and it didn't really matter.
I remember having read in history books or watched on the television serials how difficult it was in the older days to send and receive information or messages , news . People travelled distances personally , and sometimes an important news would remain untold in time.

The concept of posting letters and a post man coming to our doorstep must have taken taken years together to come into existence. Writing lettres had been an easy tool for everyone , it was a medium of communication , a tool to convey messages . A letter in the senders own handwriting gave a personal touch giving the reader a feeling as if the person is talking to him.todays generation has not experienced the happiness of receiving or writing letters .I remember during childhood the postman used come ringing the bell of his cycle and of the summer holidays when we received or report cards through post. all of this is history now, no more an experience. Making pen pals and sharing our interests waiting for their reply is but a story  to tell .Only letters  now we receive is of electricity bills bank notices , these too can be received online unless u have'nt opted for it.

I vividly remember the trin -trin sound of the telephone. A machine that connected people through wires. Once, during my school days we were taken to  a museum where our teacher explained how
the telephone actually worked, we were so excited  and awed by it ! the other day I was telling my son we did not a telephone  until  I was almost a teenager , he said  mom, are u kidding ?!
you  didn't have phones ?? In fact having phones at was a luxury then. And those trunk call bookings😅 . Cannot forget the long Queues to make long distance calls. You could find an STD booth on almost every corner of a road.
Then came  the mobile phones which our children have seen since there their babyhood. In fact
it was a toy to play with. What a contrast to the kind of time we have seen! Its generation x now  a smart generation with smart gadgets with an  effortless  comfortable life,  thanks to technology.

All said and done  this "gadgetisation"  has definitely made life easier  , true ,but are we using it smartly??
